Sergio Zenato set the course in 1960, pairing modern techniques with a devotion to local grapes, and today this family estate continues to craft exceptional wines from Costalunga's dry-stone terraces and well-drained marl. Zenato's classic expression of Amarone made from grapes grown on the Costalunga estate, their core and homeland vineyards. Stylistically weighty, as is characteristic, but also with signs of gentleness, lightness, and something ethereal and elegant.
Tasting Notes
Ruby red in color, intoxicating aromas of dried black cherries, cassis, truffles, and chocolate fudge leap out of the glass. Classic Maraschino, but with a noticeable herbiness and spiciness, with a bay leaf and whole peppercorns kind of thing going on. The palate is full‑bodied, silky, and complex, offering layers of black cherry, dried cherry, dark chocolate, raisin, and warm spice supported by velvety tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, savory finish. Velvety tannins flow on the palate, with a full body, zesty and cleansing acidity and a savory finish of toasted black pepper and chocolate.
Pairs With
Osso buco, braised meats, wild boar ravioli, grilled cowboy ribeye
