Xavier Monnot represents six generations of winemaking heritage in Meursault, tracing his maternal ancestors back to 1723 and taking over the family domaine in 1994. Known as a leading producer whose style emphasizes purity of fruit, elegance, and complexity, Xavier transformed his grandfather René Monnier's estate into his own label in 2005. Les Chevalieres is a special lieu-dit behind Meursault that performs above its village-level status, producing wines that capture the essence of this storied terroir.
Tasting Notes
The 2020 demonstrates tension and complexity with hazelnut and citrus peel aromas, complemented by a slight tertiary quality. The palate is well balanced, fresh and delineated with just enough salinity on the finish. Professional notes describe aromas and flavors of white flowers, citronella and hazelnut cream backed by lively acidity. Additional tasting reveals smoky mineral notes, pure white peach and almond butter on the nose. The wine shows piercing lemon and tangerine flavors layered in smoky, savory oak accents while maintaining vitality and freshness throughout.
Pairs With
