VOON, Pinot Noir 2023 Sta. Rita Hills, CA

Founded by Evan Anderson during the pandemic, VOON is a small-production winery located in the cooler terroir of the Sta Rita Hills with winemaker Jessica Gasca crafting low-intervention Pinot Noir that intensifies the flavors in the grape. Their wines showcase low-intervention practices with grapes sourced from organic vineyards that are hand-picked and hand-sorted, using native yeasts, neutral oak, and minimal sulfur additions to allow the true essence of each vineyard to shine through. As one of the only gay-owned wine labels in San Francisco, VOON thrives on the intersectionality of experience, challenging the historical molds of the wine industry.

Tasting Notes

This Pinot Noir is well-balanced with light and tart flavors of black raspberries and a hint of rhubarb, with well integrated tannins that enable the fruit notes to extend through a long finish. Bright cherry and subtle flint notes with amazing precision. Made from 100% Pinot Noir from two vineyards in the Sta Rita Hills AVA - Bentrock Vineyard (organic) and Rinconada Vineyard (sustainably farmed) - hand picked and hand sorted, fermented with native yeasts, 25% whole cluster, aged 19 months in 100% neutral French oak.
