Tarima Monastrell Selection

Bodegas Volver crafts this exceptional wine from grapes sourced from ungrafted vines planted between 1972 and 1979 at altitudes of 650-750 meters in the heart of Alicante. The vineyards sit between the Sierras of Salinas, Umbria and La Sima, where limy soils with little water retention capacity create ideal conditions for this indigenous Spanish variety. Aged six months in second vintage French oak barrels previously used for Tarima Hill, this selection represents the winery's commitment to showcasing authentic Monastrell expression.

Tasting Notes

Cherry color with purple lights reveals hints of liquorice and chocolate, with a subtle depth of herbs and floral qualities. The palate displays great black fruit that is fully ripe without overripeness, creating a big, rich wine. Rather fine and generous tannins help carry the high-ish alcohol content. The wine offers blackberry, spiced cake and chocolate flavors over a dark, coffee-laden finish that goes the distance.
