Schramsberg's history dates back to the 19th century, when German immigrant Jacob Schram first made his home and started his winery on Diamond Mountain. Over one hundred years later Jack and Jamie Davies would restore the Schramsberg estate in 1965. They set out to produce sparkling wine – specifically, "America's most prestigious, select and admired sparkling wine." A few years of experimentation would ultimately lead to the successful launch of Mirabelle Brut and Mirabelle Brut Rose in 1992. Unlike our vintage bottlings, Mirabelle gains unique richness from blending additions of aged base wines, stored in barrels and tanks at the winery from prior vintages. These older lots add significant palate richness and aromatic complexity.

Tasting Notes

Our 33rd bottling of the Mirabelle Brut Rosé opens with notes of strawberry, cherry, raspberry, and apricot, followed by Meyer lemon, orange zest, ginger and honey. A candied entry on the palate offers flavors of apple pie, creamsicle and strawberry-lemonade, with underlayers of ruby grapefruit, watermelon and rhubarb, leading to a tangy and quenching finish. The bubbles of this wine are superfine, with notes of fresh red berries, citrus zest and slight yeast on the nose. Flavors on the midpalate suggest concentrated peach, pear, orange marmalade and creamsicle. The dry, supple finish brings almonds and apricot slices.
