Fred Scherrer has been crafting exceptional Pinot Noir from Russian River Valley and Sonoma Coast for nearly 20 years, after graduating from UC Davis and serving as winemaker at Dehlinger for a decade. Since the winery's first vintage in 1991, Scherrer has focused on creating handcrafted, full-flavored wines that express the unique personality of Sonoma County vineyards, with owner-winemaker Fred bringing his thoughtful approach to every bottle.
Tasting Notes
Blood orange, beets, a hint of patchouli (yes, we live in Sebastopol after all) are found on the nose. Mouthwatering acidity on entry, good persistence of red fruits and earth on the mid-palate, then comes full-circle to mouthwatering acidity, good grip and nice tang on the finish. This wine exhibits the sassafras character of coastal Pinot Noirs, as well as the cola of those from the area between Sebastopol and Santa Rosa, with a central core of red fruits and lightly toasty oak anchoring these coastal and inland elements.
Pairs With
Roasted duck, grilled salmon, mushroom risotto, herb-crusted lamb
