This is the debut release from Platt Vineyard, the West Sonoma Coast estate acquired by AXA Millésimes in 2022 and overseen by global wine star Christian Seely. Grapes from this high-altitude property, planted in 2003, were much sought-after by California winemakers for years, yet the vineyard had never released wine under its own name. Located less than six miles from the Pacific Ocean, the vineyard enjoys a maritime climate that produces distinctively cool-climate expressions.
Tasting Notes
The Estate Pinot is dark-fruited but not heavy, thanks to its fresh streak of pine and coastal herbs. Notes of dark fruit, blackberries, black cherries and plums define the palate. The wine has been aged in French oak barrels for 14 months. It's understandably still a bit tight, but the finish is respectable.
Pairs With
Roasted duck breast, grilled salmon with herbs, mushroom risotto, aged cheeses
