Arianna Occhipinti is the niece of Giusto Occhipinti, whose COS wines are undisputedly amongst the very best of Sicily, and she was introduced to wine at age 16 when her uncle invited her to help at the Vinitaly wine fair. Starting with just one hectare of abandoned vines in Vittoria at age 24, she has become one of the most recognized figures in Italian natural winemaking. Named after Strada Provinciale 68, the country road that passes by her estate, SP68 represents her tribute to the winemakers who have traveled this route for three thousand years.

Tasting Notes

Fresh purple-ruby with violet highlights, offering tender black cherry, violets, plum, and a whisper of shaved cocoa on the nose. The palate delivers an initial attack of wild cherry sheathed in tobacco leaf with supporting dark plum and blackberry flavors. Very pretty on the palate with violet-like floral notes across a leather and spice backdrop, hints of roasted meats, citrus rind and herbs, finishing with ripe, fine-grained gravelly tannins. Similar in style and weight to a Cerasuolo di Vittoria or crunchy Beaujolais-Villages.

Pairs With

Grilled lamb with herbs, wood-fired pizza margherita, charcuterie and aged cheeses, roasted vegetables with olive oil
