A sixth-generation Loire winemaker, Nicolas Gaudry established his estate in 2003 and now farms 30 hectares alongside his wife Sandy from their base in Tracy-sur-Loire. This cuvée blends wines from several hilltop sites in Les Loges, specifically "La Côte" and "Les Griottes," from middle-aged vines averaging 35 years. The estate has established a reputation for bright, terroir-conscious Sauvignon Blancs that favor minerality and tension over overt ripeness.
Tasting Notes
This 2023 release showcases bright citrus zest (lemon, lime) and white peach aromas, with flinty and stony mineral undertones. The palate is slender yet persistent, with electric acidity, subtle salinity, and a crystalline finish. Les Porcheronnes is a small, clay-limestone parcel on the hilltop of Les Loges, drawing from multiple hillside sites on soils rich in clay and limestone. Fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel with lees contact to build texture and complexity.
