Marine Layer is the artisanal vision of Baron Ziegler and winemaker Rob Fischer, focused exclusively on exceptional Sonoma Coast vineyards. The Las Brisas Vineyard, named for the cooling marine breezes that flow from San Pablo Bay, was planted by Francis Mahoney in 1997 on a former dairy farm site. This distinctive terroir combines morning fog with afternoon winds, creating ideal conditions for slow grape maturation and wines of remarkable freshness and complexity.
Tasting Notes
This vibrant Vermentino displays a lively yellow color with subtle green highlights. Fragrant notes of citrus blossom and lemongrass lead on the nose, followed by flavors of feijoa, grapefruit peel, and a distinctive hint of sea salt. The wine shows excellent midpalate weight with crisp acidity that perfectly balances intricate layers of saline complexity. White flowers and waxy textures add depth, with no phenolic bitterness and a bright, refreshing finish.
Pairs With
Fresh oysters, grilled white fish with herbs, Mediterranean seafood risotto, goat cheese salad with citrus vinaigrette
