Marine Layer "Aries" Chardonnay, 2023 Sonoma Coast

Marine Layer is the passion project of founder Baron Ziegler and winemaker Rob Fischer, who craft cool-climate wines that echo the spirit of the Sonoma Coast. The name pays homage to the thick marine layer that rolls in from the Pacific, creating the challenging yet rewarding conditions that define this rugged region.

Tasting Notes

Pale straw in color with an aromatic nose of lemon curd, green apple, and hints of jasmine flower. On the palate, bright citrus from Makrut lime to Meyer lemon peel weaves with ever-present stony minerality. Fresh acidity is complemented by subtle oak and marzipan notes from barrel aging, creating a wine with notable tension and energy.
