Lyma, Loureiro blend 2023 Vinho Verde, Portugal

LYMA is the exciting new project from famed winemaker João Portugal Ramos, who has been crowned Winemaker of the Year multiple times by European publications. A tribute to freshness, Lyma refers to the sub-appellation of Lima in the Vinho Verde region, honoring the Lima river that runs west from Galicia through the entirety of Vinho Verde to the Atlantic Ocean. The vines grow at just 20 meters elevation on granite soils in the Lima sub-region, where the Atlantic Ocean creates several microclimates in the Lima Valley.

Tasting Notes

A fresh, vibrant, expressive wine bursting with lime, lemon and floral aromas. The nose offers lime zest and juice, starfruit and a touch of slate, while the palate shows green pear, green apple, and citrus with just the right amount of effervescence. Quite dry for a Vinho Verde with vibrant varietal character and charismatically chalky minerality. Very crisp and refreshing with the characteristic gentle spritz of the region.
