Founded in 2009 by Fernando Pérez Castro, Lomita sits nestled in Valle de Guadalupe, Mexico's most important wine region, just 15 minutes from the Pacific Ocean. Under the guidance of head winemaker Gustavo González, who previously crafted Italy's famous Super Tuscan "Masetto" during the early 2000s, Lomita has been practicing organic viticulture since 2012 and is committed to making wines that express the terroir of Valle de Guadalupe. The 2023 Cabernet is a rockstar with an expression of elegance and finesse that shows Cabernet can have wings and fly.
Tasting Notes
Ruby color with garnet rim, displaying aromas of ripe fruit, sweet spices, and toasted caramel on the nose. This distinctive Cabernet undergoes a meticulous three-week fermentation with skins and seeds in stainless steel, followed by aging 40% in neutral French oak barrels and 60% in stainless steel for 10 months, creating perfect balance and complexity. The 2023 vintage shows elegance and finesse with slightly lower alcohol, less density and extraction than previous vintages. A bold and balanced wine that delivers fresh fruit on a backbone of refreshing acidity.
