This is a remarkable debut cuvée from Jérôme Chézeaux and his daughter Lyse, who separately vinified a 1972 planting of Pinot Noir in the Les Chassagnes vineyard just outside Vosne-Romanée for the first time in 2022. The father-daughter team has built their reputation on crafting wines of understated majesty and purity, working from prestigious vineyard holdings in some of the most coveted terroirs of the southern Côte de Nuits. Their philosophy centers on allowing Pinot Noir's innate silkiness to shine through elegant, non-interventionist winemaking.
Tasting Notes
This wine displays black cherry and red currants layered with pomegranate and earthy mushroom notes, enhanced by subtle Thanksgiving spice aromatics. On the palate, there are hints of bitter red apple skins providing structure, while the wine maintains a soft, light profile balanced by mouthwatering acidity. The finish carries minerality and spice that reflects the terroir's proximity to the legendary Vosne-Romanée vineyards. The wine shows the house style of graceful extraction and noble acidity that lends the fruit a distinctive crunch.
Food Pairings
Roasted duck with cherry reduction, grilled salmon with herbs, wild mushroom risotto, soft cheeses like Époisses
