From the heart of Irpinia in Campania, I Favati has been crafting exceptional wines since the 1920s, now expertly guided by Rosanna Petrozziello and the Favati brothers. Their "Cretarossa" comes from a single vineyard parcel in Venticano, showcasing the nobility of Aglianico—often called the "Barolo of the South." Wine & Spirits Magazine selected I Favati as one of the Top 100 Wineries in 2023, reflecting their commitment to producing some of Campania's finest expressions of this ancient grape.
Tasting Notes
Ruby red color with intense and persistent aromas of spice, florals, and ripe fruit. Concentrated aromas of pepper, black cherry, anise, and oak lead to an intense, warm, soft palate with great body. The wine shows concentrated fruit balanced by good acidity that brings freshness, finishing pleasantly with soft, enjoyable tannins. This expression demonstrates the complexity and structure that makes Aglianico one of Italy's noble red varieties.
Pairs With
Roasted red meats, game, aged cheeses, grilled lamb, braised short ribs
