Gonet-Medeville, Extra Brut Blanc de Noir, Grand Cru 2019 Bouzy

Julie and Xavier Gonet-Médeville are the first couple of French wines, with Julie's family famous for Château Gilette and Xavier from a long line of Champagne growers in Le Mesnil. In 2000, Xavier chose a modest collection of the highest quality 1er and Grand Cru vineyards to produce only the most exquisite, small-production Champagnes, farming their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay organically. This Bouzy Grand Cru captures the essence of this storied village, known for its exceptional Pinot Noir on the southern slopes of the Montagne de Reims.

Tasting Notes

Bouzy is noted for good Pinot Noir from south-facing slopes at a rather high altitude. This Blanc de Noirs exhibits the power and concentration typical of Bouzy Pinot Noir, with raspberries immediately on the nose, along with minerals, chalk, and golden apple, followed by sweet red berries and strawberries with a great balancing dose of minerals. Hyper fresh raspberries lead to pomegranate and dark cherries. The extra brut dosage allows the pure terroir expression to shine through.
