For four generations since 1932, the Rollin family (now Rémi and Simon) has cultivated a modest 14-hectare estate in Pernand-Vergelesses, rising from humble vignerons to become one of Burgundy's most respected producers. Their Corton-Charlemagne comes from two prized parcels totaling 0.4 hectares - one south-facing mid-slope above Aloxe-Corton planted in 1976, and another at the top of the southwest-facing slope in Pernand-Vergelesses planted in 1948. This is a wine that deserves patience and reverence, embodying the nobility of one of Burgundy's most legendary Grand Crus.
Tasting Notes
This Corton-Charlemagne impresses with its sharp minerality and delicately fruity, floral, and empyreumatic aromas. The tasting is intense and dominated throughout by a stony sensation with gentle flavors of white fruits, fresh butter, fresh almond, and hazelnuts. The wine showcases elegant stony minerality with subtle Amalfi lemon, pomelo, and wild herb aromas, displaying freshness and purity with medium body but excellent concentration. The palate is long, ample and deep with a fine and relatively fresh finish, developing buttery and grilled almond notes supported by great minerality with time.
