One of Barolo's oldest wineries, the Damilano family has been crafting exceptional wines since 1890 and has farmed more than half of the legendary Cannubi vineyard for over 88 years. This fourth-generation estate produces their Cannubi from vines up to 78 years old on sandy soils that are considered the Grand Cru of Barolo, creating a wine that rivals the world's finest Burgundy and Bordeaux in its elegance and power.
Tasting Notes
Striking garnet ruby color with orange reflections reveals captivating aromas of roses, wild cherries, strawberries and fresh oranges layered with eucalyptus, violet, and baking spices. The structured palate offers juicy red cherry, raspberry, and dried plums interwoven with sophisticated notes of tobacco, licorice, cocoa, and a mineral-driven finish of rusty nail and baked clay. Medium to full-bodied with extremely fine, tightly knit tannins and fresh acidity that keeps the wine balanced and vibrant.
Food Pairings
Braised short ribs with truffle, aged Parmigiano-Reggiano, wild mushroom risotto, grilled lamb with rosemary
