From the passionate Conti sisters—Elena, Anna, and Paola—who have carried forward their father Ermanno's legacy in the volcanic soils of Alto Piemonte since taking over in 2003. This Spanna represents the pure expression of Nebbiolo from organically farmed vineyards, aged for two years in traditional Slavonian oak botti with minimal intervention and sulfur use. The sisters' dedication to reclaiming old vineyards and their visionary approach has established them as undeniable leaders in this historic region.
Tasting Notes
Built on kinetic energy rather than power, this mountain Nebbiolo displays remarkable lift and drive. Red cherry and wild berry fruits are pitched high, complemented by vertically oriented spices, mountain herbs, orange peel, and wet gravel. The palate reveals crushed red berries, salty licorice, black tea, and a mineral backbone from the volcanic soils. Firm yet refined tannins provide structure while maintaining an impression of verticality and lip-smacking freshness.
Food Pairings
Risotto al Barolo, roasted game birds, aged Gorgonzola, wild mushroom dishes
