Established in 1856, Comoz was the second-oldest vermouth producer in Chambéry and the acclaimed inventor of the crystal-clear blanc vermouth style in 1881. After ceasing production in the 1970s, this historic brand has been lovingly revived by Maison Dolin using the original 1881 recipe created by Jean-Pierre Comoz. Famous as the essential vermouth in Cuba's legendary El Presidente cocktail, Comoz represents the pioneering spirit of alpine French vermouth-making.
Tasting Notes
A sophisticated blanc vermouth showcasing the alpine terroir of Chambéry with pronounced wormwood and cherry notes that distinguish it from other blanc styles. Stone fruits meld seamlessly with savory herbs and bitter botanicals sourced from the local mountains, creating layers of complexity. The palate reveals hints of cherry rather than the typical apricot or peach, with alpine flowers and a deep, resonant undercurrent of wormwood. Less sweet than most blanc vermouths, it maintains an elegant balance with clear alpine herb notes and a clean, refreshing finish.
Food Pairings
Fresh oysters with mignonette, Alpine cheese selections, Charcuterie boards with prosciutto and cornichons, Roasted chicken with herbs de Provence
