Family-owned Collemattoni has been crafting wines in Montalcino since the 1980s, when Aldo and Marcello Bucci transformed a historic 17th-century farmhouse into their winery. Under Marcello's guidance, this organically farmed estate showcases the pure expression of Sangiovese across 11 hectares in the southern hills of Montalcino. Their Rosso di Montalcino captures the vibrant character of younger vines, offering an approachable yet sophisticated introduction to the terroir that produces their acclaimed Brunello.
Tasting Notes
Ruby red with intense color, this wine opens with captivating aromas of violet flowers, black cherry, and wild black fruits. The palate is warm, dry, and beautifully balanced, featuring flavors of ripe strawberries, red cherries, and touches of licorice and white pepper. Fine-grained, firm tannins provide structure while maintaining the wine's elegant, medium-bodied character. The finish reveals hints of spice and maintains the wine's fresh, energetic quality.
