A remarkable collaboration between Portland's House Spirits Distillery and Guatemala's Ingenio Magdalena, Casa Magdalena Ron Blanco represents a unique farm-to-glass story. The Leal family cultivates, harvests, and distills every drop from sugar cane grown in volcanic soils beneath the towering peaks of Agua, Fuego, and Acatenango volcanoes. This terroir-driven rum is distilled in Guatemala, then aged in American whiskey barrels in Portland for six to twelve months, creating an exceptional bridge between Central American tradition and American craftsmanship.
Tasting Notes
Golden hue from its time in American whiskey barrels reveals gentle aromas of coconut and marshmallow, complemented by subtle earthiness and light grassy notes born from volcanic soil. The palate is plush and approachable, featuring flavors of yellow flowers, white chocolate, paprika, and sarsaparilla. A delicate finish carries the faintest hint of lime, making this an elegant and refined white rum with surprising complexity.
Food Pairings
Fresh ceviche with lime and cilantro, grilled fish tacos with tropical salsa, coconut shrimp with sweet chili sauce, key lime pie
