From Priorat's legendary pioneer Álvaro Palacios comes this accessible introduction to one of Spain's most celebrated regions. A member of the famous "Gang of Five" who revolutionized Priorat in 1989, Palacios draws from 90 different vineyard plots across eight villages to create this harmonious blend that showcases the slate-rich llicorella soils and ancient wisdom of the Carthusian monks who first terraced these steep hillsides.
Tasting Notes
This bright ruby blend releases enticing aromas of red cherries, crushed berries, wild herbs, pomegranate, and hibiscus with subtle minerality from the slate soils. On the palate, it shows elegant balance with fine-grained tannins supporting flavors of ripe black raspberry, plum, crushed pine, milled pepper, and a lively touch of mandarin orange peel. The wine is medium-bodied with exceptional freshness and a lingering, lightly chewy finish that speaks to the unique terroir of Priorat.
Food Pairings
Grilled lamb, Mediterranean sausage with beans, roasted vegetables, cassoulet
