Founded by former Hollywood producer turned winemaker Carroll Kemp, Alma Fria crafts wines from the remote ridgetops of the West Sonoma Coast, where nature asserts more influence than man. Their Plural Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a vineyard planted in 2019 just 4.5 miles from the Pacific Ocean, amongst coastal redwoods, representing the pure essence of this newly minted AVA. This is cool-climate Cabernet at its most distinctive—a wine of feminine grace that captures the wild, untamed character of California's rugged coastline.

Tasting Notes

A Cabernet Sauvignon of feminine grace with silky tannins and boundless aromatics. It leads with aromas of cocoa nibs, violets, and bay laurel, followed by fresh cassis and savory tomato leaf notes. On the palate, it offers graphite mixed with spiced herbs, hints of green olive, and brined walnuts. The wine is delicate, nervy, and elegant with fine tannins and a distinctive saline streak on the finish, showcasing the bright, savory character that can only be achieved on the Sonoma Coast.

Food Pairings

Medium-rare côte de boeuf with garlic, rosemary and porcini, grilled lamb with herbs de Provence, aged hard cheeses, wild mushroom risotto
