Founded by childhood friends Cooper Allebrand and Niko Comati, both assistant winemakers at prominent Santa Barbara wineries, Alamati represents a passion project born from their shared love of Italian varietals. With Niko's firsthand experience from harvest in Piemonte, they craft Nebbiolo with traditional knowledge adapted to Santa Barbara's unique microclimates. Their dedication to community and accessibility shines through wines that showcase how beautifully this noble grape thrives in California's Central Coast.
Tasting Notes
This Santa Barbara Nebbiolo presents darker, riper fruit than its Piedmontese cousins, with concentrated macerated cherries and blackberry. Spice notes mingle with hints of dried herbs and earth, while the wine maintains Nebbiolo's characteristic lighter color and medium body. Aged in neutral French oak for at least two and a half years, it develops smooth tannins with a touch of warmth on the finish, offering an approachable yet complex expression of this noble grape.
Food Pairings
Braised short ribs with rosemary, wild mushroom risotto, aged Pecorino cheese, grilled lamb chops
