Eden Rift is the oldest continually producing vineyard in California, planted in 1849, nestled in the rolling hills above Hollister just 20 miles from Monterey Bay within the Cienega Valley AVA. Named as one of the world's Top 100 Wineries, this relatively young brand is taking California winemaking to new heights. Their four different expressions of Pinot Noir are planted across 90 acres of Burgundy-like limestone soil, with Lansdale being a single block Pinot Noir highlighting the best of Eden Rift.
Tasting Notes
Roasted black plum aromas are spiced in mace, cardamom and root beer notes on the nose. There's a brightness and juiciness to the palate, where fresh cherry and chai flavors are both flashy and deeply layered. From a block that gets barely a ton an acre, this 100% whole-cluster bottling presents layer after layer of flavor, texture and sensation, offering plum, berry, wood smoke, roasted meat and elegant structure. With a south-facing exposure at 1,600 ft elevation making it the highest block on the estate, this wine showcases the purity of the Calera clone.
