Denis Mortet started working for his father before taking over winemaking in the mid-1980s, becoming lifelong friends with legendary winemaker Henri Jayer. Today the estate is run by his son, Arnaud, who continues to improve the quality of these sensational wines. This stunning Gevrey-Chambertin comes from five top "lieux-dits" on the northern slope, crafted from 60+ year old vines and aged 18 months in barrel.
Tasting Notes
Opens with aromas of dark berries, rose petals, warm spices and sweet soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated, with a rich core of fruit framed by ripe, powdery tannins and lively acids. Shows a pronounced floral influence with layered dark berries, anise, and hints of sauvage, delivering excellent length on the youthfully austere finale. The 18-month oak aging adds subtle hints of toast and spice to the velvety tannins and generous medium body.
Pairs With
